Toolbar

To activate the tool which icon is visible at present on the screen, click on it. Near to some icons it is allocated small стрелочка. If on it to click, the pop-up palette where it is possible to select the tool entering into the same group reveals.

It is even more convenient to cause tools by means of the keypad (remember the letters specified on following pages for each tool). If you forgot a keyboard combination, direct the cursor on a tool icon, delay for some seconds, and the tooltip balloon reminds it to you (fig. 1.1). Alternately to cause the tools entering into any group which icons are hidden, push SHIFT key and an appropriate "hot" key. Also it is possible, pushing ALT key, to click on an icon of the visible tool.

For each tool own parameters (for example, a mixing mode, value of opacity) on the panel of options allocated at the top of the screen (is more detailed about the panel of options it is told in section «Panel of options» of this chapter) are set - fig. 1.2 see. The composition of parameters on the panel of options changes depending on what tool is selected.

On the panel of options the icon of the active tool is on the right side allocated. If to click on стрелочке near to an icon, the falling out menu where you can select other tool reveals. This list can be edited, deleted rarely used and to add often applied tools. Setting are saved panels of options for each tool if them not to change or not to recover accepted by default. To load, add and save various combinations of buttons, and also to recover characteristics of the tool accepted by default it is possible by means of menu commands of the falling out panel (fig. 1.3). To recover values of options accepted by default for all tools, in the same place select command Reset All Tools (to Recover all tools) or click by button Reset All Tools in window Edit> Preferences> General (Editing> Setting> the General).

The remark

From window Edit> Preferences> Display& Cursors (Editing> Setting> Отображение&курсоры) select, as the cursor will look: the same as also a tool icon on a toolbar, or in the form of cross-hairs.

If to try to use incorrectly the tool, there will be an icon of the prohibition 0. Click the mouse in a window containing the image, over which you work to learn why it is impossible to use the tool in the present state of affairs.

On fig. 1.4 the toolbar of program Photoshop 7 is shown. Near to a title of groups of tools "hot key" for a call of tools, in хо дящих in this group is specified.

Push SHIFT key and an appropriate "hot" key by turns to cause the tools allocated on one pop-up palette (fig. 1.5—1.21 see) and connected among themselves.
