Figures

The figure (shape) represents geometrical object or area of the certain form. The figure can have a monophonic or graded-index painting, or be filled with a repeating pattern within the boundaries, and to each figure thus there corresponds own layer (fig. 16.64).

At any moment the figure can be moved, transformed, or its boundaries, type and filling contents can be changed. For a figure is admitted to set (or to apply to it) normal styles of a layer, effects, modes of superimposing and transparency level.

Unlike the main bitmap image with which.работает Photoshop, layers of figures (or type layers shape) represent set of the vectorial data, as in programs of adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand. It means that the figure always has exact boundaries without dependence from, whether it is printed on printer PostScript, saved in format PDF or imported to other program of vector graphics, that is the figure does not depend on resolution.
