Creation of a text mask for an adjusting layer

1. At first activate the tool Round (Text), click by the button дц Create a mask or selection (to Create a mask or selection) on the panel of options, and then click in that place of a window of the image where there should be a text.
   
2. Select attributes of the text, enter the text and click by the button on the panel of options. Do not remove selection from the text.
   
3. Activate a layer over which it is necessary to allocate a new adjusting layer.
   
4. From the pop up menu caused by button click Create new fill or adjustment layer (to Create a new layer of filling or an adjusting layer) in the lower part of palette Layers, execute an appropriate command of adjustment (fig. 17.78), enter necessary values of parameters and push the button APPRX. the Outline of characters become a mask of an adjusting layer. And adjustment will influence only those points which are allocated immediately under characters (fig. 17.79).

For selection creation it is possible to use an existing text layer also. For this purpose at first hide a text layer, and then select the text, pushing CTRL key and clicking on a miniature of a text layer in palette Layers (Layers). Then fulfill a step 4 (see above).

To display one only a mask, push ALT key and click on a miniature of a mask of a layer (it is allocated on the right side). Again pushing Alt, click once again on a miniature to recover the full image.

Select adjusting layer, and in menu Image (Image) execute commands Adjustments> Invert (Adjustments> to Invert), pushing key pattern Ctrl+l to change in places black and white areas of a mask of an adjusting layer.

By means of tool Move (Relocation) - remember that flag Auto Select Layer (layer Autoselection) should be installed - it is possible to move a text mask in the selected adjusting layer.
