Light adding in the image

Filter Lighting Effects (Effects of lighting) allows to create an innumerable amount of effects of lighting. In the image it is possible to allocate about 16 light sources, and for each source to install the color, intensity and a direction of rays of light.

The remark

For optimal usage of the given filter 50 MB of a random access memory are necessary for program Photoshop at least.

  1. Убедитесьв volume that the image is presented in color mode RGB (fig. 18.134).
  2. Select a layer. At will. Select layer area to restrict filter action.
  3. Execute command Filter> Render> Lighting Effects (the Filter> Lighting> Effects of lighting).
  4. From the uncovered list in the field Style (Style) select variant Default (By default) or ready effect of lighting (fig. 18.135).
  5. In section Light Type (lighting Type) fulfill following actions (fig. 18.136 see):
    • Install flag On to (Include), to see effect in a print preview window;
    • From the uncovered list in the field Light Type (lighting Type) select appropriate type of a light source: Spotlight (Gun) if want that by default the beam of light was narrow, cone-shaped and gave a stain of the elliptic form;

    • Install slider Intensity (Intensity) on a necessary mark for change of brightness of light. Position Full (Completely) defines the brightest light (fig. 18.137), a Negative (Negatively) - dark;
    • For type of lighting Spotlight (Gun) it is possible to move slider Focus (Focus) to adjust lighting in an ellipse. If to install a slider in position Wide Focus (Wide focus) light becomes brighter at approach to ellipse boundaries (fig. 18.138а). At slider relocation in position Narrow Focus (Narrow focus) the image looks differently (fig. 18.1386);
    • To change color of lighting, click across the field of the sample of color and select the necessary shade on a palette.
  1. In the field of print preview it is possible to fulfill any of enumerated below actions:
    • Drag a central point of an ellipse to drift all beam of light;
    • Drag any of boundary pointing devices of an ellipse in a direction to center to narrow a ray of light and to increase its brightness (fig. 18.139);
    • In case of elliptic area drag any of side pointing devices to change a direction of light or to expand or narrow a beam of light (fig. 18.140а,).
  2. Move the slider allocated in section Properties (Property) to adjust following properties of a surface of object in the active layer:
    • Gloss (Invoice) defines force of reflection of light that surface on which it falls;
    • Material (Material) defines, how the image reflects color of a light source: Plastic (Plastic) - is reflected color of lighting, Metall (Metal) - is reflected color of the object;
    • Exposure (Exposure) illuminates or blacks out all layer of the image (fig. 18.141а,);
    • Ambience (Illumination) tracks balance between a light source and illuminance of all image (fig. 18.142а,). Move this slider carefully.

    Click on the sample of color to select any other shade for illumination.

  3. Fulfill any of enumerated below actions:
    • To add the installed parameters in pop up menu Style (Style), click by button Save to (Save);
    • To add one more light source, drag a tag in the form of a burning bulb in a print preview window (fig. 18.143);

    • To delete a light source, simply drag its central point on the button in the form of a basket;
    • To create a light source copy, push ALT key and drag its central point in a proper place.
  1. Push the button APPRX.

The remark

The last installed parameters of filter Lighting Effects (Effects of lighting) will be saved in a dialog box until them do not change or do not close program Photoshop. To recover the filter properties installed by default, select other style from pop up menu Style (Style), and then in the same menu include option Default (By default). Click by button Delete to (Delete), to delete the selected style from the pop up menu.

Council

For creation of textural effect of lighting select from the uncovered list from section Texture Channel (the Textural channel) the alpha channel containing a texture. Move slider Height (Height) and adjust texture height. This function is better approaches to type of lighting Spotlight (Gun).

Council

Light of type Omni (Lamp) creates spherical luminous area and is similar to light of the lantern directed perpendicularly to the image (fig. 18.144). Dragging the boundary pointing device of a luminous stain, it is possible to change the size of area of lighting.

Council

Pushing SHIFT key and dragging the boundary pointing device of an ellipse, it is possible to change its size (thus the corner does not change). To change a corner or light direction, without changing the size of an ellipse, push CTRL key and drag radius.

Council

For creation of a small luminous stain select type of lighting Spotlight (Gun), move slider Intensity (Intensity) on a mark 55, and slider Focus (Focus) - on a mark 30. Then drag side pointing devices of an ellipse in a center direction to narrow it. To illuminate other part of the image, move all ellipse entirely, dragging its central point.

Council

If the image background has been blacked too out owing to filter Lighting Effects application (Effects of lighting) use it once again to illuminate dark area and to show additional details of the image. Move romper suit Exposure (Exposure) and Ambience (Illumination) in section Properties (Property) a little to the right.

Examples of application of filter Lighting Effects

For creation of the image resulted on fig. 18.145, the type of lighting Spotlight (Gun) with wide focus has been used. Thus the elliptic luminous stain has been turned, and its form has been changed. Slider Exposure (Exposure) has been a little shifted to mark Over (Maximum) to increase brightness of a light source, and slider Ambience (Illumination) - is a little to the left to black out an image background. Then, pushing ALT key, we dragged an ellipse to copy a light source and to illuminate the person on the right. And at last, the new light source with small intensity has been created to illuminate an image background (fig. 18.146).
