Methods of usage of adjusting layers

Change a mode of mixing of an adjusting layer (palette Layers (Layers)) to create various visual effects with involvement of underlaying layers (fig. 9.7). For example, try to install mode Overlay (Superimposing) to increase contrast; Multiply (Multiplication) to black out the image, or Screen (Screen) to clarify it. It is possible to create a stack from several adjusting layers, then to hide some layers or to reduce their opacity, to see, how the underlaying image (fig. 9.7 see) changes. If you want to compare action of various values of parameters of the same command, create some identical adjusting layers, for example Levels (Levels) or Color Balance (Balance of color), hide all of them, and then show alternately on one. It is possible to change the order of a relative positioning of adjusting layers or to change their position concerning remaining layers.

That the adjusting layer did not influence on underlaying, move it over the adjusting.

If needed to restrict a scope of an adjusting layer select demanded area before to create a similar layer. The selected area will have white color on a miniature of a mask of a layer (fig. 9.7, 9.8). Color (flood) black color adjusting layer to delete effect from its application, or white color that this effect became visible. Normally adjusting layer influences all visible layers allocated more low, but it is possible to use cutting group to restrict effect of adjustment to a layer or layers with which (which) it is grouped (see chapter 14, the section «Creation of a mask of a layer»). At instruction fetch Layer> New Adjustment Layer (the Layer> the New adjusting layer) in dialog box New Layer (the New layer) can be delivered flag Group With Previous Layer (to Group with the previous layer).
