Circuit and selection

The circuit is used for storage of separation. For creation of selection on the basis of a circuit command Make Selection (to Create selection) the menu of a palette of circuits serves. The button of creation of selection in the bottom of a palette (fig. 6.16 see) forms in the document selection with the parameters set at a tail call of this command.

1. Activating a circuit, select command Make Selection (to Create selection) the menu of a palette of circuits.

2. In the dialog box with the same name (fig. 6.55) set value of shading - edges of the future selection, smoothing presence. If at window discovery in the document already there was a selection the lower part of a window allows to set a mode of interaction of new selection with the old: As New Selection (As new selection). Add to Selection (to Add to selection), Subtract from Selection (to Subtract from selection), Intersect with Selection (to Find intersection with selection).

3. After setting of parameters click on button OK, and in the document there will be a new selection. Note that after action of this command activity from a circuit acts in film.

Reverse operation — creation of a circuit on the basis of the selected area is quite possible also. The menu of a palette or the button of creation of a circuit command Make Work Path (to Create a new circuit) for this purpose serves in the lower part palettes Paths (Circuits).

1. Open the document Acropol.jpg and select temple area (fig. 6.56).

2. Select command Make Work Path (to Create a new circuit) the menu of a palette of circuits. In the window with the same name (fig. 6.57) is set accuracy of correspondence of a created circuit to selection boundary. Than value Tolerance (Threshold) more, the circuit is especially simplified. As a rule, select values of the order of two пикселов.

3. In the document there was the working circuit coinciding under the form with selection (fig. 6.58). Save it under name Path 1.

4. Save the document in format EPS under the same name.

Now the created circuit can be used — to make on its basis selection, to outline or flood it, to create from it a planimetric mask, to export to other application and so forth

Export and import of circuits

Circuits represent the greatest value at sharing of several programs for breadboard model half-cooking, for example, at export of illustrations to programs of imposition and at import of objects from illustration programs.

Within the limits of Photoshop it is possible to create very difficult circuits. If needed it is easy to save these circuits or as separate vectorial objects in files of a format of adobe Illustrator, or to export the image with a cropping circuit on which it will be cut at an insertion in other programs. Thereby you get rid of an undesirable background if, for example, in the imposition program the raster illustration of not squared shape is necessary. We consider export of circuits in more details. For high-grade performance of this exercise it is good, if on your computer the illustration or imposition program is installed. Is better. If it will be PageMaker, InDesign or Adobe Illustrator.

1. Pass to document Acropoi.eps. Activate the saved circuit.

2. Select command Paths to Illustrator (Circuits in Illustrator) submenu Export (Export) of menu File (File).

3. The window of export Export Paths (Export of circuits) (fig. 6.59) allows to save in format AI only a circuit, without the image

4. Open the saved document in program Illustrator. Before you — a vectorial picture of a circuit of a temple (fig. 6.60). As well as in the program, to it it is possible to give to any circuit обводки, filling and so forth

You can save the image with a cropping circuit. After discovery in the imposition program it is the image will have the form according to a masking circuit.

1. Activate document Acropoi.eps.

2. Open the menu of a palette of circuits and select command Clipping Path (a cropping Circuit). In the dialog box with the same name (fig. 6.61) specify a title of a circuit which will cut off the image (Path 1).

3. Parameter Flatness (Accuracy) characterizes accuracy rating of playback of a circuit of cropping on the press. The this value is less, the the circuit is accurater. This field can be left and not so not filled

4. Push the button APPRX. Now file has a cropping circuit.

5. Save the document. Open the imposition or illustration program supporting import of circuits scraps of EPS-files.

6. Import the document. The approximate type of the image after import to different programs is presented on fig. 6.62.

Exercise

Circuits — not the most often used possibility of the program. Therefore we offer you only small fact-finding exercise.

1. Open not edited document Pyramid.jpg. A background layer transform to the normal.

2. Create a layer with graduated fill for which select gradient Purples from dial-up Noise Samples, gradient slope angle—90 °, gradient type — angular. Place a layer with filling below the first.

3. Create a rectilinear circuit tool Pen (Pen). Transform a circuit to a mask for the first layer (fig. 6.63).

4. Create a planimetric layer of yellow color. Draw on it some subcircuits, then select all of them and set mode Exclude (Exception) (fig. 6.64).

5. Define effects of a planimetric layer so that circuits acquired some transparency and effect of volume. We enumerate effects which were used by us: at first, this superimposing of a gradient. Was sample Yellow, Violet, Orange, Blue from the main dial-up in mode Difference (Difference) is taken. Secondly, it is effect Bevel and Emboss (the Bevel and a relief) with the considerable width of a bevel. Thirdly, it is effect Satin (Silk). Besides, to the layer has been given 80 %-s' opacity and a mode нало - жения Screen (Clarification).

6. Open the document Things.jpg, select a fragment with hours and drag it in the document Pyramid.jpg (fig. 6.65).

7. Tool Freeform Pen (the Free pen) or Pen (Pen) create a circuit restricting hours (fig. 6.66,). Transform it to a mask of a layer with a fragment (fig. 6.66,). Set to an exterior circuit of hours mode Add (Addition), and internal — Subtract (Subtraction).

8. For a new layer a mask set effect Outer Glow (the Exterior glow). As you can see, even the elementary circuits can add decorative effects in your image (fig. 6.67).

The abstract

  • Circuits play Photoshop an auxiliary role. Possibility of export of circuits of cropping in programs of imposition and import of circuits from Adobe Illustrator is most important for operation.
  • For creation of circuits the tools creating figures and the arbitrary circuits are used.
  • The circuit consists of one or several subcircuits.
  • Subcircuits at superimposing can be added, be subtracted, be intersected and be eliminated.
  • Circuits fulfill in Photoshop three primary goals are circuits of cropping, planimetric layers or the normal circuits used for обводки, filling and conversions to the selected areas. In what quality the circuit will be applied, set by means of a choice of a mode of creation of a circuit before its creation.
  • Planimetric layers and layers with planimetric masks can be supplied by effects.
  • Subcircuits within a circuit are aligned and arranged from each other by special commands.
  • Export of circuits is possible in two variants — as cropping circuits together with the image, and separately, as vectorial files.
